Ram Dass' Keynote Address to the ITA Conference
Praque, Czechoslovakia June 20-25, 1992
"We face a dawning recognition that this world of depersonalized objectivity is not our salvation."
This lecture is a reflective statement of the predicament our technology has created. It was given as the keynote address at the International Transpersonal Association's conference in Czechoslovakia during the summer of '92, and it reflects the complex political and social forces at play in that nation, and in our own nation as well (summer of '92).
In the face of massive change in the enviornment and in society, Ram Dass suggests that until we have confronted our own death, "we are motivated by a behavior of avoidance that is distorting the truth that we see." What is required of us, if we are to become a force for positive transformation in the world, is that we "keep surrendering who we think we are into who we truly are."
