In his keynote address to the 1993 Eupsychia Conference, Ram Dass outlined the currents of consciousness which have passed through our culture during the past three decades: the naive hopefulness of the '60s, the New Age and Guru explosions of the '70s, and the alienation and greed of the '80s.

In the face of the increasing social polarization of the '90s, he says, we are challenged to work for change which unites rather than dividing us.
